Ketika Raspberry Pi Berfungsi Sebagai Mesin Game (When a Raspberry Pi is Converted to an Emulator Machine)

Di kesempatan kali ini kita akan membahas sesuatu yang berbeda. Yaitu Raspberry Pi yang dirubah menjadi sebuah mesin emulator, sebuah console plug & play. Selama 4 bulan terakhir kami mendapat kesempatan untuk merakit, bermain dengan Raspberry Pi yang dialih fungsikan menjadi mesin khusus untuk bermain game. Oleh karena itu ayo kita langsung lihat meneliti produk ini.

This time we take a look at something different. A Raspberry Pi that has been turned into an emulator machine, a plug & play console. For these last 4 months we've had the opportunity to build, fiddle around with Raspberry Pi and we to a machine specifically to play games. Let's take a look at the product shall we.

Apa itu Raspberry Pi? Raspberry Pi adalah sebuah komputer mini yang mempunyai ukuran kurang lebih sama besar dengan sebuah smartphone. Namun ketika anda membeli komputer mini ini anda akan mendapatkan nya dalam keadaan kosong, nga ada program, nga ada game, nga ada operating system; semua game, semua aplikasi, semua nya harus anda install sendiri.


What's a Raspberry Pi you may ask? Raspberry Pi is a very small computer that's around as big as a smartphone. But these mini PC's don't come with an operating system, games, or software.

Bahkan ketika anda membeli sebuah Raspberry Pi anda juga harus membeli charger, SD card dan berbagai hardware yang anda butuhkan; seperti controller, keyboard, mouse, dll. Casing pun tidak ada.

You don't even get the power supply(a 2 amp mobile phone charger is sufficient to power a Pi), storage device; peripherals needed like a video game controller, keyboard, mouse, etc. You don't even get a computer case.


Kalau begitu bagaimana bisa kamu rubah Raspberry Pi menjadi sebuah mesin emulator? Pertama-tama kamu harus beli dulu semua komponen yang dibutuhkan seperti SD Card, charger HP/tablet, controller, dan keyboard. Setelah itu kamu download operating system seperti Retropie atau Recalbox yang didalam nya sudah terdapat berbagai macam emulator. Selanjutnya kamu isi game, atur setting emulator, atur resolusi, dan sebagai nya.

So how do you build a Raspberry Pi into an emulator machine? First you have to buy all the necessary hardware such as a micro SD Card, a mobile phone/tablet charger, controller, and a keyboard. Then you download an operating system for example Retropie or RecalBox which has all kinds of emulators built in inside the operating system. Next you must transfer your games, play around with the emulator settings, set your resolution, and so on.

Tentu nya setiap produk pasti punya keunggulan & juga keterbatasan; sama hal nya dengan sebuah Raspberry Pi. Mari kita mulai dengan melihat kekurangan-kekurangan yang dimiliki oleh Raspberry Pi baru setelah itu kita lihat semua hal positif yang dimiliki nya.

Just like any other products the Raspberry Pi has its strength & limitations. Let's start from its cons and then finish this in a more positive note.

• Install Semua Sendiri

Apabila kamu seseorang yang sudah terbiasa menggunakan komputer & gadget maka seharusnya tidak menemui terlalu banyak hambatan sewaktu menjalankan semua langah instalasi; ini karena sudah ada banyak panduan instalasi di internet. Namun bagi mereka yang tidak terbiasa, proses instalasi mungkin bisa mematahkan semangat mereka.

• You Install Everything By Yourself

If you're very familiar with computers & gadgets you may find the experience from building a project like this to be fulfilling; heaps of tutorials & guides for building a project like this already exist on the internet. But those who are not accustomed to building computers may feel demotivated and give up.

• Setting & Troubleshooting Sendiri

Masih berhubungan dengan proses instalasi, langkah setting hingga berbagai game bisa jalan sesuai harapan juga harus kamu jalani sendiri. Apa yang terjadi jika kamu menemukan hambatan seperti game yang kamu inginkan tidak bisa jalan? Kamu harus selesaikan sendiri masalah yang kamu temui. Namun di internet ada cukup banyak panduan, dan juga orang-orang yang siap menjawab pertanyaan-pertanyaan kamu.

• Fix All Problems On Your Own

Well, what do you do when the games don't run? What do you do when the framerates are too low? You must fix these problems on your own. But there are plenty of tutorials on the web, on wikis, on message boards, and people who are willing to answer your questions.

• Ada Yang Jalan Lancar Ada Yang Nga

Game apa aja yang jalan? apa game nya bisa jalan dengan lancar? Apa ada masalah visual seperti sprite  yang hilang-hilang? Pertanyaan-pertanyaan ini tidak mudah untuk dijawab karena Raspberry Pi yang diinstall program seperti Retropie dapat menjalankan aneka game dari puluhan jenis platform yang berbeda. Dari game console seperti NES, Playstation; juga game-game komputer dari berbagai era ditambah lagi game-game arcade. Dan program Retropie membiarkan pengguna menjalankan emulator & game apa saja yang berada di dalam Raspberry Pi, meskipun game tersebut tidak jalan dengan lancar.

• Some Run Well Some Don't

Which games can you run? Which games run perfectly? Are there graphical glitches like missing sprites? It's hard to give a straight answer because of the nature of device. 

A Rasperry Pi containing a Retropie can run thousands of games from a huge number of platforms. Consoles such as NES, Playstation, as well as computer games, plus arcade games that come from different eras of video games. Retropie lets users run whatever emulator & games that are contained in the Raspberry Pi, regardless of how perfect the emulation the hardware & software can ouput.

Sekarang mari kita sampingkan keterbatasan yang dimiliki Raspberry Pi, dan melihat kelebihan dari komputer mungil ini.

Now that we've discussed the weaknesses, let's talk more about the positive side.

• Memiliki Port HDMI & Composite

Kalian bisa dengan mudah menampilkan game ke televisi tabung ataupun televisi flatscreen LCD/LED; tampilkan gambar & suara di TV tabung lewat kabel composite/kabel AV; ada juga pilihan untuk tampilkan gambar & suara di tv LCD/LED lewat kabel HDMI. Untuk kalian yang ingin tampilkan gambar lewat VGA, ada cara nya tapi kalian harus siapkan alat tambahan.

• HDMI & Composite Video/Audio Ports

You can easily hook a Raspberry Pi to a CRT or a modern flatscreen TV; connect the Pi to a CRT via a Composite cable; there's also an option to connect your Raspberry Pi to your LCD/LED tv by using an HDMI cable. For those who want to hook up Raspberry Pi to a VGA monitor, you can but you'll have to purchase additional peripherals.

• Bebas Isi Aneka Macam Game

Ada banyak sekali game yang bisa kalian jalankan dari sekitar 30 platform yang didukung oleh Raspberry Pi. Kalian bisa isi game Atari 2600, NES, Neo Geo, Playstation, Mega Drive; bermacam-macam game handheld seperti Gameboy, Game Gear, PSP; bahkan game-game komputer seperti game dari Apple II.


Sekali lagi cek channel youtube kami untuk melihat performa Raspberry Pi menjalankan berbagai macam game dari berbagai macam era. Inti nya banyak sekali game 2D yang jalan dari era 70, 80, 90an. Namun jumlah game 3D yang bisa jalan dengan mulus lebih sedikit.

Untuk kalian yang ingin main game-game arcade; ada banyak game arcade yang bekerja dengan sempurna khusus nya game yang keluar untuk mesin CPS1, CPS2, CPS3, dan Neo Geo MVS.

• You're free to insert all sorts of video games.

Retropie supports around 30 video game platforms. Atari 2600,  Neo Geo, Playstation, Mega Drive; handheld games like the games on Gameboy, Game Gear, PSP; even PC games like the ones released for Apple II.

In a nutshell there are more games with 2D graphics that perform great than the ones with 3D graphics. Moreover a relatively huge number of arcade games released for the CPS1, CPS2, CPS2, and Neo Geo MVS perform very well.

• Bebas Memakai Controller Yang Berbeda-beda.

Raspberry Pi dilengkapi oleh empat USB port, dan itu berarti kamu bisa pasang aneka macam controller yang memiliki port USB. Seperti controller PC, PS3, Xbox 360; termasuk juga controller klasik yang dibuat ulang seperti controller SNES oleh Buffalo. Program seperti Retropie itu berbasis Linux sehingga Raspberry Pi dapat mendukung banyak sekali controller.

Kamu juga bisa main secara wireless, tapi kami belum coba sendiri.

Raspberry Pi has four USB ports this gives you the option to use PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and classic controllers that have been remade such as the Buffalo Snes Controller.

• Panduan Yang Cukup Lengkap Di Internet

Ketika kamu membeli Raspberry Pi kamu hanya dapat sebuah buku panduan yang sangat tipis dan tidak memuat banyak informasi. Namun ada banyak informasi, tutorial, forum, wiki yang bisa kamu temukan di internet; yang bisa membantu kamu saat kamu menemukan hambatan atau ketika kamu ingin bereksperimen dengan Raspberry Pi kalian.

• Useful User Guides on the Internet

When you buy a Raspberry Pi you only get a small sized, thin manual that doesn't hold much information. However there are plenty of guides, tutorials; on forums, wikis, videos on the internet; that can help you troubleshoot or perhaps try new things on your Pi.

• Bisa Dipakai Sebagai Media Player

untuk kalian yang install Retropie dan sudah membuat komputer ini menjadi console rakitan, kalian bisa install beberapa program tambahan lainnya; salah satu nya adalah Kodi; yaitu sebuah program yang memperbolehkan kalian menonton video yang tersimpan di Pi kalian & video yang ada di layanan video streaming seperti Youtube & Twitch.

• Run Your Pi as a Media Player

Retropie users can install Kodi; a software that allow you to stream videos, podcasts, songs from sites such as Youtube or Twitch; as well as play media files from your Pi.

Raspberry Pi adalah sebuah komputer multi-fungsi yang bisa kalian rubah menjadi sebuah mesin emulator. Barang ini bisa dengan cukup mudah kalian dapatkan di Indonesia. Tetapi tidak seperti Retro Freak dan Retron 5 yang bisa kalian mainkan langsung; kalian harus siapkan semua hardware & software nya sendiri sebelum kalian bisa main game di Raspberry Pi.

Raspberry Pi is a mini, multifunctional computer that you can turn into an emulator machine. You can get this device pretty easily in Indonesia. But unlike the Retro Freak & Retron 5; you have to get all the neccessary hardware & software before you can play any games on Raspberry Pi.


Benda ini mungkin tidak berguna untuk kolektor game yang mencari pengalaman bermain game yang autentik, tapi benda ini bisa sangat berguna di museum atau pameran game; kalian hanya perlu bawa sebuah komputer yang seukuran kepalan tangan orang dewasa, sebuah charger, controller, dan TV flatscreen yang ringan dan kalian sudah bisa menghadirkan pengalaman bermain game ke acara kalian. Tidak perlu juga membawa setumpuk kaset & cd game karena game dari berbagai macam console sudah kalian simpan di satu tempat, yaitu di dalam Raspberry Pi.

It may not be a valuable item for collectors that seek a more authentic experience from real video game consoles, but it can be useful for game convetions or exhibitions; bring a small computer that's around a size of your hand, a charger, a few controllers, an LCD/LED monitor and you got yourself a video game experience at your event.

You don't have to bring a stack of catridges, hue cards, or discs since all of your games are stored in one place; in your Raspberry Pi.
